Septic tank is a chamber that is either made up of fiberglass, plastic, PVC or concrete. The septic tank is hauled on a vacuum truck, also called septic truck. The main use of these tanks is that they drain out the sewage or wastewater for primary treatment. The septic tanks are considered as a type of online sewage facility, also known as OSSF. They are used mostly in the areas that are not connected to any kind of sewerage system such as rural areas. The liquid is then disposed of in a septic drain field which actually provides the further treatment process. Truck Xpress Septic Trucks are the best in terms of design as well as service.
- The structure
The septic tank is comprised of one or multiple plastics or concrete tanks of between 4000-7500 liters. In another unit, it is between 1000 to 2000 gallons. One end of this tank is connected to septic drain field and the other to an inlet pipe with all the wastewater. Nowadays, the design of these tanks generally incorporates two chambers. Each one of these chambers has a manhole cover and separates by a dividing wall which has openings at the midway between the roof and floor of the tank.
- The emptying process
The waste that is not decomposed by the anaerobic digestion must be removed eventually from inside the septic tank. If not, the septic tank fills up and wastewater which contains a large amount of non-decomposed material discharges straight into the drainage field. It is harmful to the environment and adding to that if the sludge overflows the septic tank, it may even clog up the field piping and decrease the porosity of the soil. When the septic tanks are emptied, the sludge which is accumulated is pumped out of the vacuum truck.
